Deb Abrahamson joins Growing Community Media board

Deb Abrahamson, a veteran of several non-profits in Oak Park and across the near west suburbs, has joined the board of Growing Community Media. 

Abrahamson is best known locally for her long service in building the Oak Park Education Foundation. She served for 10 years as its first executive director. Additionally, Abrahamson has served on the board of the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation. She is currently on the board of the Pro Bono Network which provides legal services.

Abrahamson is also the immediate past president of the board of Maywood Fine Arts, a near legendary arts organization in Proviso Township.

GCM was formed in 2019 and since the first of 2020 has been the non-profit publisher of Wednesday Journal, Austin Weekly News, Forest Park Review and the Riverside-Brookfield Landmark.

Abrahamson is the seventh member of the non-profit's board. Also serving are Judy Greffin, the chair, Gary Collins, Darnell Shields, Sheila Solomon, Eric Weinheimer and Nile Wendorf.
