Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest is pleased to announce that Thrive Counseling Center is the recipient of Community Bank’s Champion Grant. The purpose of the Champion Grant is to assist organizations in providing community outreach programs for low or moderate income individuals.

Thrive Counseling Center is a comprehensive mental health organization that provides counseling and family support services to youth, adults, families, and seniors living in Oak Park, River Forest and other near west suburban communities. The mission of Thrive is to build healthy minds, families and communities by empowering people to attain mental and emotional well-being. Some of the services provided by Thrive include counseling and psychiatric programs, a crisis center, youth services, client advocacy, volunteer programs, and a program for individuals recovering from mental illness. More information about Thrive is available on their website at www.thrivecc.org.

A grant in the amount of $1,000 was presented to Nina Allen, President and CEO of Thrive, on Thursday, May 3. Bernard D. Headley II, Community Lending Specialist for Community Bank, presented the grant. Thrive Counseling Center will use the grant to underwrite the cost of their 19 low-income permanent supportive housing units in Oak Park for clients with a mental health disability, who were formerly homeless. Case managers will be assigned to each client placed in housing, and case managers will assist clients in learning the skills necessary for independent living.

Through the Champion Grant, Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest encourages growth and support in economically challenged communities. Champion Grants will be awarded to qualifying organizations throughout the year. The Champion Grant application is available on the Community Bank website at www.cboprf.com.
