Triton College's tuition gouging must stop

Triton College's minimum score to avoid mathematics course remediation is ACT 23. This is the highest cut score in the state of Illinois — higher than most four-year colleges and universities. Why? So they can charge tuition to students, most of whom are struggling financially, to take a course for which they won't receive college credit. ACT, the test-designer and researcher, states that for a student to "have a high likelihood of success in a college mathematics score" a student should have a minimum score of 22. This is only one example of outrageous tuition gouging perpetrated on our neediest and most vulnerable students and it needs to stop.
