An adult woman in her 40s tested positively for COVID-19, making her diagnosis the second in the village of Oak Park.

The woman underwent screening and testing March 18. The village received confirmation of the positive test result March 21. The village noted that the woman has no affiliation with the local school system in its announcement.

According to the village, the woman is recovering in isolation at home. Due to privacy laws, the village cannot release any further information regarding either the woman's identity or medical history.

The village bulletin states that "the Oak Park Department of Public Health is working closely with officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), investigating and notifying anyone who may have had exposure to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19."

First responders, health officials and hospital workers are "following protocols consistent with the latest guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention."

A version of this story previously stated Oak Park had a third confirmed case after the village government retracted its March 23 announcement that an Oak Park man in his 50s received a positive test result for COVID-19. The man that tested positively actually resides in Chicago.

"Public Health Director Mike Charley just confirmed that the individual initially thought to be an Oak Park resident, actually was a Chicago resident. His medical records had not been updated with the correct address," said Oak Park Communications Director David Powers. "This means that the two cases previously reported are the only positive test results to date of Oak Park residents."

This story has been updated to include a retraction from the village of Oak Park. As of this moment, there are only two confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in the village of Oak Park.
