A Chicago resident was the victim of a bump-and-run carjacking in the 700 block of Van Buren Street at 1:25 p.m. on March 28.

A small gray sedan struck a 2014 Ford Explorer from behind. A man exited the passenger side of the sedan as did the driver of the Explorer.

The man then got into the Explorer and drove off after the driver exited the scene. No additional details were given.

The carjacker was described as black, 30 to 35 years old, 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3, with a heavy build and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and gray pants.

The estimated loss is $23,070, which is the value of the vehicle.
