The Green Line, minus masks

Opinion: Letters To The Editor

July 15th, 2020 11:27 AM

My husband and I traveled on the Green Line train on Wednesday, July 8, and noticed that most people traveling on the train were not wearing facial coverings or masks. As we pulled into each station going toward downtown, more and more people getting on the train were not wearing masks. We also noticed many CTA employees not wearing masks. Luckily, the train was not crowded, and we were able to keep our distance from those not wearing masks.

We have always taken public transportation whenever possible, but have not traveled much since the pandemic outbreak. We are very impressed with the cleanliness of the trains, and the large signs at the train stations, spelling out the requirements for taking precautions when riding the trains. I hope the CTA can begin enforcing their requirement that their employees and riders wear face coverings so that my husband and I will feel more comfortable riding public transportation again.
